The "grizzled man" that Eros described as our rafting guide was actually a totally hot southern guy named Dan, who had the most defined triceps I've ever seen. As he was helping me into and out of my drysuit (twice since the first one didn't fit quite right), he said that he was happy to help since he's from the south where chivalry isn't dead yet.
