Amy & Eros in Alaska

Wednesday, June 29, 2005

On the drive from Fairbanks to Anchorage - Eros looks so tiny compared with the majesty of Nature, no? This is Hurricane Gulch, which was very impressive. The haze is from the fires, but if you look closely you can see some snowy mountains in the back and a little ribbon of river waaay down below.  Posted by Hello

Ok, this is a good question that neither of us thought of. I've been doing some research and all I've come up with is that there is a train crossing over Hurricane Gulch that is the tallest in Alaska and the most difficult to build, and it was built in 1921. Still no info on the reference to tropical storms. Hmm. Considering Alaska only borders the Pacific Ocean, you'd think they would have called it Typhoon Gulch, no?
