Amy:
Well, at least tomorrow is a day off- the first in two weeks...We're having an epidemic of homesickness, and the parents of these kids are totally egging it on despite the fact that they have to pay the return fare to get them home. Lots of tears, lots of excuses. Aside from homesickness, today was rife with issues. A bunch of girls are throwing up nightly, and though it doesn't sound like an eating disorder issue it is quite odd that they don't feel good and then feel better after sticking a finger down their throats. One girl's mom's birthday was today, but she told me in code that her mom had passed away last year (culturally, they're not very forward with things). One boy's grandparents are dying. One girl's brothers have all been in jail for starting fistfights with one another, among other things, and she was asked to testify against them in court (she doesn't want any part of learning the justice system in her classes since it's old hat for her). This doesn't even count the numerous suicides I've heard about. So, we're going to hike in the woods tomorrow on our day off.
Aside from all that, I'd like to thank Michael Jackson for not be a child molester and just being a plain old weirdo again, and ask if it's really true that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise are engaged. Thank you, Michael, Katie, and Tom for being so darn normal.

apparently, Katie Holmes has been delving into the scientological arts, hence her relationship with Tom "depression can be cured with vitamins" Cruise. http://www.freekatie.net/
